OLD SCHOOL: Tiny Archibald
Another preview of the work I have hanging at Voltage Art & Coffee for “In the Paint”, Opening tomorrow! From the organizers:
Hi Friends,
We’re looking forward to seeing you at In the Paint tomorrow, Friday, April 19th. It’s been some week here in our beautiful city. Our original intention for the show was to build and strengthen community as well as bring everyone together in one space, surrounded by art that unites us. This purpose feels as important now as ever.
As you know, we’re requesting a $5 cash donation at the door, which will go directly to support the great work of Shooting Touch, a charity that teaches inner city youth leadership through basketball. We’ll also have a raffle (complete with signed items from NBA players, art, and grab bags from our sponsors) with proceeds also benefitting Shooting Touch. This week Double Scribble is donating all proceeds from art sales made on the site to The One Fund Boston, which will benefit those most affected by Monday’s tragedy.
As a reminder, our sponsors Grillos Pickles and Downeast Cider will be on hand with nourishment of the pickle and hard cider variety and Voltage will be offering refreshments as well (including wine and beer, which they now sell!).
One of the most special parts of all this for us organizers has been to watch the evolution of Aaron Dana’s mural. It’s really something and we can’t wait for you to experience it.
And a final reminder- we are totally sold out of tickets for this event so please arrive as early as possible (it goes from 7-9 PM), as we expect to fill up quickly and while the reserved ticket is required it doesn’t guarantee entry. There isa wait list, so if you cannot attend please let us know as soon as possible (email anna@voltagecoffee.com) and we’ll release your ticket(s) to a grateful wait lister.
We look forward to honoring our artists, our city, and our community with all of you. See you tomorrow In the Paint.
